The Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc. (founded in 1938) is a non-profit art organization, run by artists, for artists. We aim to foster & support both emerging & established contemporary artists, and help them present their work to the public, through professional & affordable exhibitions. We suport painters, photographers, sculptors, mixed-media artists and other media. The Society holds an Annual Members' Exhibition (open to members only), with a wide range of prizes, judged by a prominent artist. All works from this exhibition are viewable on the Society's website for a year. We also hold anually "The Collectors' Exhibition" (open to all artists), established to give artists exposure to a range of Australian contemporary art collectors. Throught the year we hold "gallery walks" to some of Melbourne's prominent galleries, with guest speakers. We also organize social events (BBQ's & dinners) throughout the year. C.A.S. Publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, containing all information on upcoming events, together with information on many art prizes and exhibitions being held in Australia C.A.S. Members receive a 10% discount at several of Melbourne's leading art material suppliers, framers & canvas suppliers. Membership is $50 a year and $20 a year for non-exibiting membership.
